Operations and Service Configuration

Use this settings area to control how your field operations run day to day. These sections affect staffing rules, service coverage, and reusable setup data used in scheduling, quoting, and customer workflows.

Key sections and what they control

  • Payroll Options: defaults that influence payroll processing behavior
  • Technician Access (Kiosk): shared-device access settings for kiosk authentication
  • Teams: operational groups used in schedule and route workflows — see Teams for the full guide
  • Service Zones: ZIP-based service area definitions and map-backed planning support
  • Customer Sources: lead origin options used in intake and reporting
  • Skills & Tags: reusable metadata for assignment and filtering
  • Questionnaires: survey definitions and response workflows (search for either "questionnaire" or "survey" to find this tab)

High-impact workflow: managing service zones

The zone section supports CRUD operations and ZIP code management with permission checks in the UI. Teams often use this workflow:

  1. Create or rename zones.
  2. Maintain ZIP assignment coverage.
  3. Adjust zone color coding for map clarity.
  4. Review impact in scheduling and dispatch views.

If ZIP management actions are hidden, confirm your role has the permissions for managing zone ZIP codes.

Billing terms

Billing terms are not managed in Settings — there is no Billing Terms section, and terms can't be added, edited, or removed in Pulse today. You still assign a billing term to each customer from the Edit Customer drawer. See Billing Terms for what each term does in invoicing.

Questionnaire management notes

Questionnaire create/update/delete actions are permission-gated (separate permissions to create, update, and delete questionnaires — these permissions are still named for surveys, even though the tab is now labeled Questionnaires). If a user can view but not edit questionnaires, their role likely has read-only coverage for this section.

Troubleshooting

Zone tools are visible but create/update buttons are disabled

Your role has read-level access without update-level claims.

Kiosk settings do not save

Check that your role has permission to update kiosk settings, and confirm you are editing the intended branch/tenant scope.

Kiosk password won't update

The Update button next to the kiosk password field stays disabled until the password meets the rule shown under the field: at least 8 characters, with an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, and a number. Fix the password to match the rule, then click Update again.

How do employees sign in on the kiosk?

After entering the shared kiosk password, an employee types their own Employee ID to sign in — the kiosk no longer shows a list of employee names and photos to choose from, so a shared tablet doesn't reveal who else works at the branch.
