Schedule Change Reasons
Schedule Change Reasons is where you manage the reason lists for job status changes: Cancel Service, Bump, Skip, Move, Lockout, Void, and Redo. Keeping the list specific to your business makes cancellation reports easier to read.
Overview
Reasons are grouped by the status they apply to. Right now these job actions read from these lists:
- Cancel All Future Jobs (ending a recurring service) uses the Cancel Service reasons. This is the list to add to when a partner asks "how do I add a cancellation reason?"
- Redo uses the Redo reasons.
- Reschedule Job uses the Move reasons when you choose Customer Request and the Bump reasons when you choose Company Decision.
The other job actions have their own choices for now. Skip takes a typed reason, and Lock Out and Cancel Job offer a fixed list. Adding a Skip, Lockout or Cancel Job reason here does not change those drawers.
Navigate to Settings → Company → Schedule Change Reasons to manage it.
This feature may need to be enabled for your company. If you don't see Schedule Change Reasons in Settings, an Administrator or Group Administrator in your office can check.
Key Features
- One list per status. Reasons are grouped under the seven statuses they apply to, and each row carries a color-coded status badge matching the one shown on the schedule and dispatch board.
- Global reasons are read-only. Some reasons ship with every MaidCentral company and are marked with a Global badge — you can use them but not edit or remove them.
- Search and filter. Use the search box to find a reason by name, or click a status button to narrow the table to just that status.
- Add and edit only. You can add new reasons and edit the wording of ones your company created. There is no delete, active/inactive toggle, or manual reordering — this matches the classic MaidCentral behavior teams are used to.
How to Add a Reason
- Go to Settings → Company → Schedule Change Reasons.
- Click Add Reason.
- Choose the Status the reason applies to (Cancel Service, Bump, Skip, Move, Lockout, Void, or Redo).
- Enter the reason text — up to 50 characters, for example "Customer traveling" or "Weather delay."
- Click Add Reason to save. It's immediately available wherever that status is selected on a job.
Common Tasks
Edit a reason's wording
- Click anywhere on the reason's row (or the pencil icon).
- Update the text.
- Click Save.
Global reasons don't have an edit action — their rows aren't clickable.
Find a reason quickly
- Type into the search box to filter by name across all statuses.
- Click a status button (for example Skip) to show only reasons for that status. Click All Statuses to clear the filter.
Tips and Best Practices
- Keep reasons short and specific. "Customer requested reschedule" is more useful in a report than "Other."
- Reuse reasons across similar statuses where it makes sense, but remember each reason belongs to exactly one status — add it again under a second status if you need the same wording there.
- Lean on the Global reasons first. They cover the most common cases; add company-specific reasons only for situations the global list doesn't capture.
Troubleshooting
| What you see | Solution |
|---|---|
| Schedule Change Reasons is missing from Settings | The feature may not be turned on for your company. An Administrator or Group Administrator in your office can check. |
| Add Reason or the edit action isn't available | Your role may not have permission. An Administrator or Group Administrator in your office can check your role. |
| A reason row has no edit option | It's a Global reason shared across all companies — Global reasons can't be edited or deleted. |
