Audit Log

The Audit Log shows a complete history of changes made across your company's data. You can see who changed what, when they changed it, and exactly which fields were updated. This is useful for investigating unexpected changes, tracking team activity, and maintaining accountability.

Overview

Every time someone creates, updates, or deletes a record in MaidCentral Pulse, the system logs that event automatically. The Audit Log collects all of these events into a searchable, filterable list. You can drill into any event to see the exact fields that changed, including the old and new values.

The Audit Log tracks changes to a wide range of records, including customers, jobs, technicians, invoices, payments, quotes, leads, timesheets, PTO requests, company settings, and more.

When someone works in View As mode, audited changes retain the viewed user's identity and the original staff member who started the session. This lets an investigation distinguish the account whose access was used from the person who performed the action.

How to Open the Audit Log

  1. Click Settings in the main navigation
  2. Select Integrations & System from the sidebar
  3. Click the Audit Log tab

The page displays a grid of audit events sorted by newest first.

How to Filter Audit Events

Use the filter controls above the grid to narrow down the list. Each change applies immediately and returns you to the first page.

Action Presets

The row of buttons at the top filters by action: All Changes, Creates Only, Updates Only, or Deletes Only.

Filter Controls

  • Entity Type — Choose a specific record type (e.g., Customers, Jobs, Invoices, Payments), or All Types
  • Date Range — Pick a start and end date. The range defaults to the last 30 days.
  • Filter by user... — Enter a user's ID to show only that user's changes. This box matches the exact ID, not part of a name; to find changes by a person's name, use the search box instead.

Type in the search box labeled Search across all fields... to search across the fields of the entries on the current page. The results update as you type. This is helpful when you know the name or ID of the record you are looking for.

How to View Event Details

  1. Click any row in the grid
  2. A detail drawer opens on the right side
  3. The drawer shows:
    • General Info — Entity type, entity ID, user who made the change, user role, and timestamp
    • Property Changes — A table listing each changed field with its old value and new value
    • Metadata — Additional context about the event (if available)

Old values appear with a red background. New values appear with a green background. If a field was empty before the change, it shows "(empty)."

Copy Event Data

At the bottom of the detail drawer, click Copy JSON to copy the full event details to your clipboard. This is useful when sharing information with support or keeping records.

How to Export the Audit Log

  1. Apply any filters to narrow the results
  2. Go to the page of results you want to export
  3. Click the Export to CSV button (download icon) in the toolbar
  4. A CSV file downloads with a name like audit-log-2026-03-01-to-2026-03-31.csv

The export contains only the entries on the page you are viewing, not every entry that matches your filters. To export more at once, choose a larger page size (up to 200) from the Rows dropdown, or export each page in turn. The quick search box does not narrow the export; every entry on the current page is included.

The export includes the timestamp, entity type, action, user, entity ID, and number of changes for each event. The button is disabled when no events match your current filters.

How to Manage Columns

  1. Click the Columns button (column icon) in the toolbar
  2. A panel opens on the side of the grid
  3. Check or uncheck columns to show or hide them
  4. Drag columns to reorder them

Default visible columns: Timestamp, Entity Type, Action, User, Entity ID, and Changes (number of fields changed).

How to Refresh the Data

Click the Refresh button (circular arrow icon) in the toolbar to reload the latest audit events. The button spins while data is loading.

What the Audit Log Tracks

The Audit Log captures changes across many record types in your company:

Each event records one of three actions:

DeletedA record was removed

Pagination

The grid shows a set number of entries per page. Use the controls at the bottom to navigate:

  • Click the arrow buttons to go to the next, previous, first, or last page
  • Type a page number in the page input box and press Enter to jump directly
  • Change the page size (20, 50, 100, or 200 entries per page) from the Rows dropdown

The summary line shows "Showing X to Y of Z entries" so you always know where you are.

Tips and Best Practices

  • Use date ranges to narrow large result sets. Start with a short range (last 7 days) and expand if needed.
  • Filter by Entity Type when investigating a specific record. For example, select "Invoice" to see all invoice changes.
  • Check the user name on unexpected changes. Automated processes show "System" as the user.
  • Export regularly if your company requires an audit trail for compliance purposes. Each export covers one page of entries, so use a short date range or a large page size.
  • Use the Deletes Only preset to spot unusual activity patterns, like a spike in deletions.
  • Group rows by Entity Type, Action, or User to spot patterns quickly. Drag one of those column headers onto the grouping bar above the grid.
  • Pair audit history with Impersonation Sessions when investigating View As activity so you can confirm the session start, target, reason, and end state.
