Quote Rounding

Quote Rounding controls charm pricing — rounding a calculated quote price to a consistent precision and ending digit, such as making every price end in 9 ($183.70 → $183.99). Pulse has always applied rounding server-side during pricing; this settings tab is where you now configure it and see it explained, instead of it happening silently.

Find it at Settings → Quoting & Scopes → Quote Rounding.

This feature may need to be enabled for your company. If Quote Rounding does not appear under Quoting & Scopes, contact your administrator to confirm the feature is on.

Rounding Options

FieldChoicesWhat it does
Rounding precisionDo Not Round, 10 Cents ($00.1X), 1 Dollar ($01.XX), 10 Dollars ($1X.XX)How far a calculated price is rounded before the ending digit is applied
Ending digit0 through 9The digit each rounded price is nudged down to end in (for example, 9) — disabled and ignored when precision is Do Not Round

Choosing Do Not Round turns off rounding entirely: quotes show the price exactly as calculated, and the Ending digit control is disabled.

Live Preview

The settings page shows a Preview panel with a few sample prices (for example $247.32) next to the price they would become under your current selections. The preview updates immediately as you change either dropdown, so you can confirm the effect before saving.

Saving Changes

  1. Choose a Rounding precision.
  2. Choose an Ending digit (skip if you selected Do Not Round).
  3. Review the Preview panel.
  4. Click Save Rounding.

Cancel reverts both fields to the last saved values. Both buttons are disabled until you change something.

Rounding applies to every quote for this branch going forward. It is not applied retroactively to quotes already generated.

Seeing the Rounded Price at Quote Time (and When You Change the Hourly Rate)

When Quote Rounding is enabled, the scope configuration card on the estimate's Pricing step (New Quote) shows the rounded price next to the calculated rate:

  • The raw price appears first (rate × hours).
  • If rounding changes the price, an arrow and the rounded amount follow — for example $183.70 → $183.99.
  • Hover the rounded amount for a tooltip explaining it is the price the customer is quoted, with a pointer back to Settings → Quoting & Scopes → Quote Rounding.

On the estimate's Pricing step (New Quote), when you type your own bill rate on a scope card, Pulse re-prices that frequency at your rate on the server, so the rounded price shown is the price that is saved and booked.

If you reopen a saved quote, the card shows your configured rate again and the bill-rate box starts empty. Booking it without changing anything on Pricing books the quote as you saved it: the saved price, hours and add-ons. If you change anything on Pricing first, the quote books at what the screen shows.

Tips and Best Practices

  • Set this once per branch, then leave it alone. Changing rounding mid-cycle makes older quotes and new quotes look inconsistent to a customer comparing them.
  • Match your existing pricing habits. If your team already prices to end in 9 or 5, set the ending digit to match rather than letting quotes round to an unfamiliar number.
  • Use Do Not Round if you price to the cent. Some businesses intentionally quote exact calculated prices — Do Not Round preserves that.
  • Check the preview before saving. The preview mirrors the same rounding the server applies, so what you see there is what customers will be quoted.
