Home & Service Inspections

Inspections let office staff log a pass/fail quality check against a specific job, tied to a home or service set, with an inspector, comments, and the technicians who worked the job.

Overview

Inspections are shared across three places in Pulse, so wherever you're looking at a customer's account you can add or review one without hunting for a separate page:

  • Home detail — add an inspection for a specific property.
  • Classic service set detail — add an inspection scoped to one service set.
  • Customer → Jobs → Inspections — a filterable history across every home and service set the customer has.

All three surfaces read from and write to the same inspection records, so an inspection added from a home shows up immediately in the customer's Inspections tab, and vice versa. Every inspection is now graded Pass/Fail — a simplification from the old letter-grade (A–F) system.

Key Features

  • Job-linked, not free-dated. Every inspection is tied to a specific job. Picking a job automatically sets the inspection date — there's no separate date field to get out of sync with the actual visit.
  • Searchable inspector. The Inspector field is a searchable list of your active employees, so you can find the right person even on a large team.
  • Pass/Fail grading. A simple toggle — one of the two must be selected, and it can't be left blank.
  • Technician names everywhere. Every inspection view (home, service set, and customer) now shows which technician(s) worked the linked job, so a failed inspection is easy to trace back to the crew.
  • Shared filter bar. The customer-level Inspections view has the same Home/Service Set filter dropdowns (each showing a count) used elsewhere in the app, so filtering down to one property is consistent with how you filter jobs and invoices.
  • CSV export. Export the filtered inspection history from the customer's Inspections tab.

How to Add an Inspection

  1. Open the home, service set, or customer you want to inspect.
  2. Click Add Inspection.
  3. If you're not already scoped to one service set, choose the Service Set the inspection applies to.
  4. Choose the Job to link the inspection to. Pulse defaults to the most recent job on or before today, and sets the inspection date from the job automatically.
  5. Search for and select the Inspector.
  6. Toggle Pass or Fail.
  7. Add any Comments (optional, but recommended on a Fail).
  8. Click Add Inspection to save.

The job picker only offers jobs that were actually worked — you can't log an inspection against a job that hasn't happened yet.

Common Tasks

Reviewing a Customer's Inspection History

  1. Open the customer record and go to Jobs → Inspections.
  2. Use the Home and Service Set dropdowns to narrow the list — each option shows how many inspections it has.
  3. Review the Pass/Fail badge and technician name on each row; expand a row to read the comments.
  4. Click Export to download the filtered list as a CSV.

Adding an Inspection Right After a Failed Visit

  1. From the home or service set, click Add Inspection.
  2. Select the job that just happened.
  3. Mark Fail and describe the issue in Comments — this is the record your team will reference when following up with the customer or the crew.

Tips and Best Practices

  • Log inspections close to the visit. Since the job picker defaults to the most recent past job, inspecting right after a visit keeps the job selection accurate with minimal clicking.
  • Use Comments on every Fail. A Fail with no comment tells the next reader that something went wrong but not what — write enough to act on.
  • Check the technician name before escalating. Since every inspection now carries the technicians who worked the job, you can confirm who to follow up with before reaching out.
