Edit Property Drawer
The Edit Property drawer lets you update an existing service location's details — including the address, property size, entry information, service instructions, and internal staff notes.
You open it from a property card in the Service Locations tab. Changes saved here apply immediately to the property record and carry through to any jobs or service sets linked to it.

Opening the Drawer
- Open a customer record.
- Go to the Service Locations tab.
- Locate the property card you want to update.
- Click the edit (pencil) icon on the property card.
The Edit Property drawer slides in from the right. It loads the current property details automatically.
Sections in the Drawer
The drawer has three collapsible sections. Basic Details and Property Specifications are expanded by default. Home Instructions is collapsed — click its header to open it.
Basic Details
Use this section to correct or update the property's name and address.
Property Name The label used throughout the system to identify this property. Update it if the customer renames the location or if the original name needs clarification.
Street Address The physical street address. Update this if the customer moves or if the address was entered incorrectly.
City The city for this property.
State
The two-letter state abbreviation (e.g., PA, TX, OH). For a Canadian branch, this field is labeled Province instead.
ZIP Code
The ZIP code for this property. For a Canadian branch, this field is labeled Postal Code and accepts a Canadian postal code instead (e.g., M5V 2T6). Unlike when adding a new property, updating the ZIP or postal code here does not re-validate the service zone. Contact your administrator if you need to change the service zone for a property.
All address fields in Basic Details are required. You cannot save with any of them blank.
Property Specifications
These fields describe the physical size of the property. Accurate values here help the pricing calculator produce correct estimates when you create or update service sets.
Square Feet (required) The finished square footage. Must be a positive number.
Number of Floors (optional) Select 1, 2, 3, or 4+ floors.
Bedrooms (required) Select from Studio (0 bed), 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5+.
Bathrooms (required) Select from 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5, or 4+.
If you select a half-bath value (e.g., 1.5 or 2.5), a note appears below the field indicating the value will be rounded to the nearest whole number for scheduling purposes.
Home Instructions
This section holds all operational notes for this property. It is organized into three subsections: Access & Entry, Service Instructions, and Internal Notes. All fields here are optional.
Click the Home Instructions card header to expand it.
Access & Entry
These fields tell your technicians how to reach and enter the property.
Access Information Rich-text field for entry instructions. Examples: "Use lockbox on front porch, code 4455," "Ring bell — customer will open," "Gate code is 1234#."
Home Key The number on the property's key tag. Unless Edit Home Key is on, it shows here as read-only text.
If your company has Edit Home Key turned on, this is a text box and you can type your own Home Key (up to 50 characters). Saving a new Home Key also adds the Home Key tag to the property, so the key shows on the Dispatch board's Home Keys list and on worksheets. Edit Home Key may need to be turned on for your company. An Administrator can turn it on under Settings > Integrations & System > Pulse Features.
Write where the key is kept, such as "Lockbox by garage", in Access Information, not here.
Location Phone
A phone number specific to this property — useful for commercial locations or properties with a dedicated line. Format: 555-555-5555.
Directions Rich-text field for driving directions or parking guidance. Examples: "Take Oak Street entrance," "Park in visitor spots on Level P1," "Do not use the GPS — it routes through the wrong gate."
Service Instructions
These fields tell your technicians what to do while cleaning.
Special Instructions Rich-text field for general cleaning preferences. Examples: "Always use fragrance-free products," "Client prefers all-natural cleaners," "Do not vacuum the office — hand-sweep only."
Pet Instructions Rich-text field for how to handle pets at this property. Examples: "Dogs are friendly — let them out to the backyard," "Two cats — keep laundry room door closed," "Owner is allergic to dogs — confirm no pets on premises before scheduling."
Pets (Basic Info)
Short summary of pets at the property. Examples: 2 dogs, 1 cat, 1 indoor rabbit. Use the Pet Instructions field above for more detailed guidance.
People in Household
Brief note about who lives there. Examples: 2 adults, 1 child, Single occupant, works from home. Helps technicians set expectations when arriving.
Special Equipment Rich-text field for any non-standard tools or supplies needed. Examples: "Bring commercial steam cleaner," "Customer supplies their own mop — do not use yours," "Requires extension ladder for skylights."
Waste Disposal Rich-text field for trash and recycling instructions. Examples: "Trash goes in the blue bin in the garage," "Recycling only in the green bin — customer separates," "Do not move trash cans — customer handles disposal."
Internal Notes (Staff Only)
Internal Memo Rich-text field for notes that are visible only to your office and field staff — never to the customer. Use this for sensitive information, billing notes, or reminders that should not appear in customer-facing documents. Examples: "Customer prefers contact via text only," "Account on payment hold — confirm payment before scheduling," "VIP client — always assign senior technician."
Saving Your Changes
Click Save Changes at the bottom of the drawer to apply all edits.
The drawer will briefly show "Saving..." while the update is processed. When the save completes, the drawer closes and the property card in the Service Locations tab reflects the new details.
If an error occurs, an error message appears in the drawer. The drawer stays open so you can correct the issue without losing your changes.
The drawer does not auto-save. If you close it without clicking Save Changes, your edits are lost.
Tips
- Update access details before the next job. If a customer changes their gate code, where the key is kept, or lockbox combination, update the property record immediately. Every job pulls entry information from the property.
- Use Pet Instructions for safety-critical information. Details like "dog bites if startled" or "allergic pet in household" belong in Pet Instructions so they appear prominently for technicians.
- Use Internal Memo for account-level flags. Notes about payment holds, special customer preferences, or account status are a good fit for Internal Memo — they stay visible to your team without appearing in customer-facing views.
- Directions should be specific. GPS is often wrong for rural or gated properties. Write out step-by-step navigation if needed.
- Keep Special Instructions property-level. Use this field for instructions that apply to every visit, regardless of which service set is running. For instructions specific to one service, use the service set's Special Instructions instead.
Troubleshooting
| What you see | Solution |
|---|---|
| Edit (pencil) icon is missing on the property card | You may not have permission to edit properties. Contact your administrator. |
| Drawer shows a loading spinner for a long time | The system is fetching the latest property data. Wait a moment and try again. If it persists, refresh the page. |
| Save Changes button is grayed out | One or more required fields may be blank. Check Property Name, Street Address, City, State, ZIP Code, Square Feet, Bedrooms, and Bathrooms. |
| "Failed to update property" error message | Your session may have timed out or the server encountered an issue. Refresh the page and try again. If the error persists, contact your administrator. |
| Changes saved but property card still shows old data | The update was successful but the display may be cached. Refresh the page to see the latest values. |
| Half-bath rounding warning appears | This is expected. The system rounds 1.5, 2.5, and 3.5 to the nearest whole number for scheduling. |
