Add / Edit Billing Address Drawer

The Add Billing Address and Edit Billing Address drawers let you create and update the addresses used on a customer's invoices. A customer can have multiple billing addresses — for example, a business owner who bills different locations to different accounts.

Both drawers live under the Billing & Payments tab on a customer record, inside the Billing Addresses section.

Fields in the Drawer

Name

Billing addresses are tied to a name, not just a location. This name appears on the invoice exactly as entered.

First Name (required, max 50 characters) The first name of the person or contact associated with this billing address.

Last Name (required, max 50 characters) The last name for this billing address.

Middle Name (optional, max 50 characters) Appears between first and last name on the invoice if provided.

Address

Address Line 1 (required, max 50 characters) The primary street address. Examples: 123 Main Street, 500 Corporate Blvd.

Address Line 2 (optional, max 50 characters) Unit, suite, floor, or building details. Examples: Suite 200, Unit 4B, Floor 3.

City (required, max 50 characters) The city for this billing address.

State/Region (required, max 50 characters) The state abbreviation or region name. Examples: PA, CA, Ontario.

Postal Code (required, max 50 characters) The ZIP or postal code. Examples: 15212, M5H 2N2.

Country (required, max 50 characters) Defaults to USA. Update this for international billing addresses. If the country is USA or US, it is omitted from the formatted address on the invoice.

Set as Default (add mode only)

When adding a new address, a Set as default billing address checkbox appears at the bottom of the form. Checking it makes this address the default for all future invoices immediately after saving.

This checkbox does not appear when editing an existing address. To change the default after the fact, use the Set as Default option from the ⋮ menu on the address card.

note

The default billing address is marked with a Default badge on its card in the Billing Addresses section. Only one address can be the default at a time.

Saving

Add mode — click Add Address to save. Edit mode — click Save Changes to save.

The drawer closes when the save is successful and the address list updates immediately.

If a required field is blank, a validation message appears under that field and the save is blocked until corrected.

Managing Existing Addresses

From the ⋮ menu on any address card in the Billing Addresses section, you can:

ActionWhat It Does
EditOpens the Edit Billing Address drawer to update the details
Set as DefaultPrompts you to confirm, then makes this address the default for new invoices
DeleteRemoves the address after a confirmation prompt
note

You cannot delete the current default address if it is the only address on file. Add a second address first, set it as the new default, and then delete the old one.

Tips

  • Match the name on file with the customer's account. Invoices look professional when the billing name matches what the customer expects — especially for business accounts.
  • Set a default before the first invoice. If no default is set, you may need to manually select a billing address when generating invoices. Save your team that step by setting the default at setup.
  • Use Address Line 2 for suite or unit numbers. Keeping the street number on Line 1 and the suite detail on Line 2 keeps addresses formatted correctly on invoices and envelopes.
  • Add separate addresses for multi-location businesses. If a customer manages three offices and wants each invoice tied to a different address, add one billing address per location and use the correct one when generating each invoice.
  • Update the country for international customers. The country field defaults to USA. If your company serves international customers, update the country so it prints on the invoice.
