Reschedule a Job
When a job needs to move to a different date, use the Reschedule Job drawer. It captures whether the change came from the customer or the company, finds an open slot on the schedule, and optionally notifies the customer — all in one step.
For quick same-day time changes, dragging the job card on the Timeline is faster. Use the Reschedule drawer when moving to a different date or when you need to record the reason for the change.

How to Reschedule a Job
- Go to Office > Schedule.
- Click a job card to open the Job Detail drawer.
- Click Actions in the footer, then choose Reschedule Job.
- Select who initiated the change.
- Pick a new date, time, and team — or choose from the placement suggestions.
- Select a Reason and, if you like, add Notes. The reason is required when your company has reasons set up for that type of change.
- Configure the customer notification.
- Click Reschedule Job to confirm.
Who Initiated the Change
The drawer asks you to select one of two types before showing further options. This determines how the job status is recorded:
| Type | Badge | When to Use |
|---|---|---|
| Customer Request | Move | The customer asked to change the job date |
| Company Decision | Bump | Your company needs to move the job (staffing, route changes, etc.) |
Select the type that applies. Both paths use the same date and team selection tools — the only difference is the status recorded on the original job.
The Reason list depends on the type: Customer Request shows your Move reasons and Company Decision shows your Bump reasons. You manage both lists under Settings → Company → Schedule Change Reasons. The reason and your notes are saved on the customer's contact ticket for the change.
Choosing the New Date, Time, and Team
Once you select a type, fields appear to choose the new schedule:
New Date — Click to open a date picker. Use the shortcuts for quick selections like "Tomorrow" or "Next Monday." The calendar blocks past dates so you cannot accidentally move a job backward.
New Time (optional) — If you want to set a specific start time on the new date, pick one here. If left blank, the job keeps its original time on the new date.
Team — Select which team will handle the rescheduled job. The dropdown shows all active teams with their color indicators, plus Not Scheduled if you want to move the job off its current team without picking a new one yet.
Placement Suggestions
Below the date and team fields, the drawer shows Placement Suggestions — a list of recommended open slots for the next seven days. Suggestions are ranked by how well each slot fits the job, taking into account team capacity, job duration, and the customer's zone.
Each suggestion shows:
- Day and date
- Start time
- Team name (color-coded)
- A score or ranking indicator
Using a suggestion:
- Click any suggestion row to automatically fill in the date, time, and team fields above.
- You can then adjust the filled-in values manually if the suggestion is close but not quite right.
Filtering suggestions:
- Use the date range picker to look at slots further out than the default seven days.
- Use the Exclude Teams filter to remove specific teams from the suggestions list.
- Sort suggestions by score, date, or team using the sort dropdown.
Viewing a job in a suggestion slot:
- If a suggestion slot already has another job on it, click the info icon next to that suggestion to open that job's detail drawer and verify whether the slot still makes sense.
Placement suggestions are powered by MaidSense. They factor in team availability, job duration, and zone proximity. Suggestions are a guide — you always choose the final slot.
Customer Notification
The Notify Customer toggle defaults to on. Choose how the notification is sent:
| Method | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Customer must have an email on file | |
| SMS | Customer must have a phone number on file |
| Both | Requires both email and phone on file |
| None | No notification sent |
The drawer shows the customer's email and phone so you can confirm before sending. Methods that require contact information not on file appear grayed out.
What Happens After Rescheduling
When you confirm the reschedule:
- The original job is marked with a Moved or Bumped status (depending on which type you selected).
- A new job is created on the new date with a Pending status and the same service details.
- The new job is tagged as Out of Rotation — this protects it from being affected by automatic recurring schedule operations.
- If notification was enabled, the customer receives a message with the new date and time.
The original job remains visible on its original date with the Moved or Bumped status so you have a complete history of the schedule change.
Tips
- Use placement suggestions for faster dispatch. Instead of manually checking every team's availability, let the suggestions surface the best open slots. One click fills in all three fields.
- Bump jobs early when coverage changes. If you know a team will be short-staffed tomorrow, bump affected jobs today so there is time to notify customers and find new slots.
- Move vs. Bump affects reports. The distinction between customer-requested moves and company-initiated bumps shows up in schedule change reports. Using the right type keeps your data accurate.
- Check the alerts sidebar after rescheduling. Moving a job outside the arrival window the customer was already notified of flags it as outside the notification window. The alert appears in the Schedule's alerts sidebar (the Flagged Jobs tab when collapsed), where you can send the customer an updated notice.
- No time selected means same time. If you pick a new date but leave the time blank, the rescheduled job keeps its original start time on the new date.
Troubleshooting
Reschedule Job is not in the Actions menu
This option may not be available for jobs in certain statuses (for example, completed or already cancelled jobs). Check the status badge in the Job Detail drawer header. If the job is in a terminal state, rescheduling is not available.
Placement suggestions are not loading
Suggestions load after you select a reschedule type and while the drawer is open. If the list stays empty, check your internet connection and close and reopen the drawer. If the job has no associated zone data, fewer suggestions may appear.
I selected a suggestion but the fields did not fill in
Click directly on the suggestion row (not the info icon next to it). The row click fills in the date, time, and team fields. The info icon opens the job detail for that slot instead.
The customer was not notified
Verify the customer's contact information is on file. If no email or phone exists, the notification cannot be sent. Update the customer profile with contact information and notify them manually for this instance.
