Set up a custom recurring schedule
Pulse has built-in frequencies for every week, every two weeks, every three weeks and every four weeks. For anything else, such as every 6 weeks, every 8 weeks or the same date each month, use Other Recurring and build the pattern yourself.
Before you start
- Other Recurring must be offered for the service's scope. If it isn't in the Frequency list, that scope doesn't allow it.
- The Custom Recurrence Pattern needs the Recurring Events feature. If you choose Other Recurring and see no pattern options, ask an Administrator or Group Administrator in your office to check.
- Every Four Weeks is not monthly. It repeats every 28 days on the same weekday, so customers get 13 visits a year and the date drifts earlier. For the same date each month, use Other Recurring. See Master Schedule.
How to set it up
- Open the customer, then open the service in the Property & Service Manager. From a job, use Modify Recurring Schedule.
- Choose Change Frequency.
- In Frequency, choose Other Recurring.
- Under Custom Recurrence Pattern, fill in the pattern (see the table below).
- Pick the date, time and team for the first visit, then click Confirm.
Pulse deletes the service's future pending visits and rebuilds them from your start date using the new pattern. Visits already completed are not changed, and pending visits with clock-ins, timesheet requests or invoices are kept (see How Recurring Series Changes Work).
Pattern examples
| I want... | Repeat | Interval | Other choices |
|---|---|---|---|
| Every 6 weeks | Weekly | 6 | Pick the weekday under On these days |
| Every 8 weeks | Weekly | 8 | Pick the weekday under On these days |
| The 15th of every month | Monthly | 1 | On a specific day, then 15 |
| The 2nd Tuesday of every month | Monthly | 1 | On a specific weekday, then 2nd and Tuesday |
| The last Friday of every month | Monthly | 1 | On a specific weekday, then Last and Friday |
| Every 3 months | Monthly | 3 | Pick the day or weekday |
Use Ends to stop the pattern: Never, On date, or After a number of occurrences. Use Exception Dates to skip specific dates, such as a holiday.
Twice a week, or two frequencies at one home
Use one service set for each schedule. A home can have more than one service set, and each has its own frequency, day and team.
- Twice a week: create two service sets that are both Every Week, one for each day. For example, Monday and Thursday.
- Different frequencies (a rotation): create one service set for each. For example, a weekly main-level clean and a monthly basement clean.
To add the second service set:
- Open the customer, then open the Property & Service Manager.
- Select the property.
- Click Add Service and set up the scope, frequency, price and first visit.
See Add a Service for the full steps.
Check your result
- The pattern shows the next few dates (up to five). Compare them with what the customer expects before you confirm.
- Open the customer's Service Locations or Jobs tab to see the new visits.
Other Recurring services do not appear on the Master Schedule. The Master Schedule shows every week, every two weeks and every four weeks services. Find every 6 or 8 week visits on Office > Schedule in the Timeline view.
Troubleshooting
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Other Recurring is not in the Frequency list | That scope doesn't offer it. Choose a different scope, or ask an Administrator or Group Administrator in your office. |
| No pattern options after choosing Other Recurring | The Recurring Events feature is off. Ask an Administrator or Group Administrator in your office. |
| Dates don't match what the customer wanted | Check Interval and the weekday, or use On a specific day for a fixed date. Change Frequency again to rebuild. |
| The service is missing from the Master Schedule | Expected for Other Recurring. Use the Timeline view. |
