Overview

The Schedule page's Gantt chart view shows every team as a horizontal row. Each job appears as a colored card positioned at its scheduled start time. The width of the card shows how long the job takes.

Drag-to-move lets you change two things at once:

  • Time: Drag left or right to move the job earlier or later in the day.
  • Team: Drag up or down to move the job to a completely different team row.

You can also use both at the same time. Drag diagonally to reschedule a job and reassign it to a new team in one motion.

The schedule snaps to 15-minute intervals as you drag. A live time preview appears near your cursor so you always know exactly where the job will land before you let go. When you release the card, the system saves the change immediately.

Events (non-job blocks like meetings or time-off) work the same way. You can drag them to any team row at any time.

How to Drag a Job to a New Time or Team

  1. Go to the Schedule page and make sure you are on the Gantt chart view. Click the Gantt tab near the top of the schedule if it is not already selected.

  2. Find the job card you want to move. Each card shows the customer name, address, and scheduled time.

  3. Hover over the job card to reveal the grab handle. A vertical grip icon appears on the left edge of the card when you hover. This is your drag handle.

  4. Click and hold the grip icon, then start dragging. The card fades slightly to show it is being moved.

  5. Drag horizontally to change the start time, drag vertically to change the team, or drag diagonally to do both. Watch the time preview tooltip near your cursor — it updates as you drag so you can target the exact slot you want.

  6. Watch for the blue drop indicator. A vertical blue line with dots appears in the team row where the job will land. This confirms the exact position.

  7. Release the mouse button to drop the job. The schedule updates immediately. You will see a confirmation notification at the top of the screen.

Understanding Snap-to-15-Minutes

The Gantt chart locks your drop position to the nearest 15-minute mark. This keeps the schedule clean and prevents jobs from starting at odd times like 9:07 AM.

As you drag, the time tooltip shows you exactly where the job will land. Valid snap points are every 15 minutes throughout the day: 8:00, 8:15, 8:30, 8:45, 9:00, and so on.

Reading the Drop Zone Colors

While you are dragging a job, the empty time slots in each team row change color to show availability:

ColorWhat It Means
Green (dashed border)Slot is open — safe to drop here
Red (dashed border)Another job already exists here — dropping will cause an overlap
Orange (dashed border)Dropping here will conflict with a future recurring job occurrence

An alert triangle icon also appears in conflict slots so you can spot them at a glance. Available slots show no icon — just the green background.

tip

If you see red or orange slots for a team, try scrolling slightly left or right. A 15-minute shift can often clear the conflict.

Dragging Events

Non-job items like team meetings or blocked time appear on the same Gantt chart as job cards. Drag them exactly like jobs — hover to reveal the grab handle, then drag to any team row and time.

Events take part in the same layout as jobs. When an event and a job overlap in time on the same team, the event gets its own lane in Stack mode. In Overlap mode, an event that starts at the same time as a job cascades just below it; otherwise both share the top lane and the event is drawn over the overlapping part of the job.

Reading the Position Legend

The team sidebar (on the left side of each row) shows the technicians scheduled for that team today. Each technician avatar has a colored ring that shows their role on the team:

Ring ColorPosition
Amber (gold)Captain
TealExtra
PurpleTrainee
No ringTeam Member

The Captain leads the job. An Extra is a temporarily added team member. A Trainee is in training. Team Members have no ring.

The Gantt chart also has a legend bar at the bottom that stays visible as you scroll. It shows:

  • Frequency colors (left border of each job card): The left edge of each card is color-coded by how often the customer cleans. Green = weekly, cyan = every two weeks, amber = every three weeks, blue = every four weeks, light blue = single visit, dark = one-time deep clean.
  • Job status dots: Blue = Scheduled, Yellow = In Progress, Green = Completed.
  • Status bar (bottom edge of each job card): Red = the start time has passed and nobody has clocked in. Amber = at least one cleaner is clocked in. Green = everyone has clocked out. Dark gray = the job is marked Locked Out. No bar = the job hasn't reached its start time.
  • Drag availability colors: These appear in the legend only while you are actively dragging a job, reminding you what green, red, and orange mean.

Reordering Team Rows

You can also drag the team name panels on the left side of the Gantt to change the order teams appear in. Hover over a team header, grab the grip icon that appears on the right side of the header bar, and drag the row up or down. A blue line shows where the team will be placed when you release.

This reordering is session-only. The next time you load the schedule, teams return to their default order.

Tips and Best Practices

  • Use the grip handle, not the card body. Clicking the card body opens the job detail drawer. The grip icon appears on hover and is the safe place to start your drag.
  • Drag slowly at first. The snap grid kicks in once you start moving. Small, controlled movements make it easier to hit exactly the right 15-minute slot.
  • Check the time tooltip before releasing. The blue tooltip near your cursor always shows the exact time where the job will land. If it does not look right, keep dragging until it does.
  • Conflict colors are a warning, not a block. You can still drop a job into a red slot. The system will save the change. Use conflict colors as a guide to find a better slot, not as a hard stop.
  • Reassigning a job that belongs to multiple teams. Some jobs are assigned to more than one team. When you drag a job from a specific team row, only that team's assignment changes. The job stays assigned to the other teams as well.

Troubleshooting

The job card opens a detail drawer instead of moving

What you see: Clicking a job card opens the job detail drawer instead of letting you drag.

Solution: You need to start the drag from the grip handle, not the card body. Hover over the job card until you see the vertical grip icon appear on the left edge. Click and hold that icon specifically, then drag.

The drop indicator is not showing

What you see: You are dragging a job but you do not see the blue vertical line showing where it will drop.

Solution: Make sure your cursor is over the timeline area (the right-side portion of a team row), not over the team name panel on the left. The team name panel handles team reordering only. Drag to the right side of the row to drop into a time slot.

The time tooltip shows a time outside the visible area

What you see: You dragged past the edge of the visible timeline and the time tooltip shows a time you cannot see.

Solution: Scroll the Gantt chart left or right to bring the target time into view, then release. Alternatively, use the Business Hours / All Hours button in the top-right of the Gantt chart stats bar to switch between a view of your business hours (one hour either side, set in Settings > General) and a full 24-hour view.

The job snapped to the wrong 15-minute slot

What you see: The job landed at 9:15 but you wanted 9:00.

Solution: Open the job's quick actions menu (the three-dot button on the card) and choose Edit to adjust the time precisely. Or drag the job again — move your cursor slightly to the left before releasing to hit the earlier snap point.
