Time Clock Changes
The Time Clock Changes sub-tab shows all clock-in and clock-out correction requests for a technician. Use it to review correction history, submit new corrections, and approve or deny pending requests.

Opening the Sub-Tab
- Go to Office > Technicians.
- Click a technician's name to open their profile.
- Select Time & Attendance in the left navigation.
- Click the Time Clock Changes tab (the third of four tabs).
Filtering Requests
The status filter in the card header lets you narrow the list by request status.
| Filter | What it shows |
|---|---|
| All | Every request regardless of status |
| Pending | Requests waiting for a decision |
| Approved | Requests that were approved |
| Denied | Requests that were rejected |
The filter dropdown shows a funnel icon. Select a value to reload the list.
Reviewing the Request Table
Each row shows one correction request. The table columns are:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Type | Day Clock (daily attendance record) or Job Clock (linked to a specific job) |
| Requested | Date the correction was submitted |
| Job | Job number for Job Clock entries — click to open Job Detail |
| Original | The original clock-in and clock-out times on record |
| Requested | The corrected clock-in and clock-out times being requested |
| Reason | The explanation provided by the requester |
| Status | Pending (amber), Approved (green), or Denied (red) |
| Denial Reason | The office's reason, shown for denied requests |
Submitting a Correction
Administrators can submit a new correction from the sub-tab by clicking Add Correction. The Time Clock Change Request drawer opens.
Work Date
Select the date the technician worked. The field defaults to today.
Original Times (Optional)
Enter the times currently recorded in the system, if known:
- Original Clock In — The clock-in time the system shows
- Original Clock Out — The clock-out time the system shows
Providing original times gives the reviewer full context. Leave these blank if no time was ever recorded.
Requested Times
Enter the corrected times you are requesting:
- Requested Clock In (required) — The correct clock-in time
- Requested Clock Out (optional) — The correct clock-out time
If both are provided, the clock-out time must be later than the clock-in time.
Reason
Enter a brief explanation of why the correction is needed. The field is required and limited to 250 characters.
Submitting
Click Submit Request to send the correction for review. Click Cancel to close without saving.
Approving or Denying a Request
Only Pending requests open an action dialog when clicked. Approved and Denied requests are view-only.
Opening the Review Dialog
Click any Pending row. The Approve Time Clock Change dialog opens and shows:
- Request type (Day Clock or Job Clock)
- Current status
- Associated job number (if Job Clock)
- Requested date and work date
- Original times and requested times side by side
- Reason provided by the requester
Approving
Click Approve to accept the correction. The request status updates to Approved and the technician's attendance record reflects the corrected times.
A correction can't be approved when it would move time into or out of a payroll period that has already been closed. You'll see a message that the period is closed, and the request stays Pending.
A correction also can't be approved when approving it would put the end time at or before the start time, for example a request that changes only the start to a time after the recorded end. You'll see "Approving this change would put the end time before the start time", and the request stays Pending.
Denying
Click Deny to reject the request. A second dialog opens asking for the reason for denial.
Enter the reason in the text field. The reason is required — the Deny Request button stays disabled until text is entered. Click Deny Request to confirm, or click Back to return to the approval dialog.
The denial reason is visible to the technician.
Tips
- Check the Original vs Requested columns first — seeing both times side by side in the table helps you quickly spot whether the correction looks reasonable before opening the dialog.
- Job Clock corrections affect timesheets — Job Clock entries are tied to specific jobs. Approving a Job Clock correction updates the time entry used in payroll and job billing calculations.
- Day Clock corrections affect daily attendance — Day Clock corrections update the technician's attendance record for that day, which affects hours worked and any attendance-based reporting.
- Submit corrections the same day when possible — the sooner a correction enters the queue, the less likely it is to affect a payroll period that has already been processed.
- Deny with a helpful reason — a clear denial reason (for example, "Timesheet already finalized for this period") reduces follow-up questions from the technician.
Troubleshooting
Why can't I approve a time clock change?
A time clock change can't be approved if the original date or the new date falls in a payroll period that has already been closed, because that pay has already been processed. To approve it, reopen the payroll period (see How to Reopen Payroll), approve the change, then close the period again.
It also can't be approved when approving it would put the end time at or before the start time, for example a request that changes only the start to a time after the recorded end. Deny it, or ask for a new request with both times.
The Add Correction button is not visible
Only Administrators have permission to submit new time clock corrections. Other roles can view and approve or deny existing requests but cannot create new ones.
Clicking a row does not open any dialog
Only Pending rows open the approval dialog. If a row has a status of Approved or Denied, it is view-only.
The Deny Request button is disabled
A denial reason is required before you can submit. Enter text in the reason field and the button will enable.
The correction is not showing after submission
Refresh the page. If it still does not appear, confirm the submission succeeded and check the technician's Time & Attendance tab for the pending request.
The requested times look wrong in the dialog
The times displayed are what the requester entered. If they appear incorrect, deny the request with an explanation and ask the technician or manager to resubmit with the correct times.
