Full-Page Estimate
The full-page estimate is the main way to build a quote for a lead in MaidCentral Pulse. It replaces the old pop-out quote drawer for creating and editing quotes, and now opens the same way for every user — there's no separate "Classic" version anymore.

Overview
The full-page estimate walks you through four steps — Profile, Pricing, Booking, and Scheduling — to take a lead from first contact all the way to a booked job. You can stop after any step: save just the lead's contact info, save a quote without sending it, or send the quote and book the first job in one pass.
As you fill in the estimate, a summary panel keeps a running view of the customer's info and price so you always know where things stand.
How to Open a Full-Page Estimate
- Click New Quote in the header (or press ⌘. / Ctrl+.) to start a brand-new quote.
- From a lead's Contact Details page, click Convert to Customer, Get Pricing, Create Quote, or Edit Quote to open that lead's estimate.
- From the Sales Pipeline, click Add Lead, Create Quote, Book Service, or Edit Quote on a lead's card.
- From a customer's record, click Create Quote on the Quotes and Agreements tab (shown when requoting an existing home is turned on for your company), New Quote in the customer's quick actions, Add Service on a property or in the Services list, Create First Service Set, Add Property & Quote, or Create & Add Service when adding a property. The estimate opens with the customer selected, and with the home selected when you started from a property.
- From a Classic Home Details page, click Quote New Service Set on the Service Sets tab to open a new estimate prefilled with that customer's contact info and that property's address and stats.
Edit Quote opens the estimate directly on the Pricing step, since pricing is usually what needs a second look. Book Service opens it on the Booking step.
Editing a lead's details and dragging a lead to the Quoted stage in the Sales Pipeline also open the estimate (dragging to Quoted opens it on the Pricing step).
Quoting an Existing Customer
When the estimate opens for an existing customer, their name, email, and phone are already filled in on the Profile step, and a Home picker inside the Property Address card lists their saved homes. When you start from Create Quote or New Quote, the customer's first saved home is already chosen; when you start from Add Service, the home you clicked is chosen; Add Property & Quote starts with no home chosen. A chosen home fills in its address, and on the Pricing step its bedrooms, bathrooms, stories, square footage, and the number of people, pets, and dirty factor stored for that home. Every value stays editable. Picking a different home replaces the previous home's details, so nothing carries over from the last home you picked. To quote an address that is not on file, choose New address in the picker; this clears the saved home's address and details so you can enter the new one. Changing the street or ZIP code of a chosen home also switches the picker back to no home, so the quote is not linked to the old one. Once you save the quote, the Home picker no longer shows and the quote stays with the home you saved it with; start a new quote to quote a different home. When you reopen the saved quote, it shows that home's current address, and Book books the job on the same customer and home. If you change the street or ZIP code and click Book right away, without saving the quote first, the job is booked for the same customer at a new home with the address you entered; no second customer is created.
Because the customer already exists, Next: Pricing does not save a new lead, and the saved quote is linked to the customer and the home you picked.
If the customer belongs to a different branch than the one you are working in, and you have access to that branch, Pulse switches you to the customer's branch when the estimate opens and shows a message saying so. The switch stays in effect after you leave the estimate.
The Four Steps
A rail on the left lists the four steps. Locked steps show a lock icon until you complete what comes before them. Hover a locked step to see what's still needed. On a phone, the first locked step's list shows under the step buttons.
- Profile — Contacts, address, and scope of work
- Pricing — Property details and pricing
- Booking — Additional details
- Scheduling — Schedule the first job
On a phone or narrow tablet, this rail collapses into a row of buttons above the form, and the summary panel is replaced by a compact price readout at the top of the Pricing step.
The Summary Panel
Next to the form, a summary panel fills in as you go: the customer's name, company, email, phone, address (a link that opens the location in Google Maps), property size, and a running price breakdown by scope and frequency. Until you've entered anything, it just reads "Summary will appear as you fill in the estimate."
Once the lead has been saved at least once, the customer's name in the summary becomes a link that opens their full Contact Details page in a new tab.
Step 1 — Profile
Fill in who the customer is and what they need:
- Service Area Check — Enter the property's ZIP code. Pulse checks it against your service zones and shows Service area: [zone name] in green when it's valid, or Not in service area in red when it isn't.
- Contact Information — First and last name, email, and phone. Each of email and phone has a small trash-can button so you can clear it if the customer only wants to be reached one way. Use – Add Additional Contact Info – to add more phone numbers or email addresses (cell, home, business, fax, and more), and pick a Customer Source.
- Tags — Optional lead tags (see below).
- Property Address — An address lookup field with autocomplete.
- Service Selection — Pick the scope group and scope of work. On a brand-new estimate, Pulse pre-selects your branch's default scope group (set under Settings → Quoting & Scopes → Scopes of Work → Office quote default; with None, no group is pre-selected) and its first scope automatically, so any pricing questions for that scope show up right away.
If the customer already exists, Pulse tells you as you type. As soon as you enter an email, a phone number, or a street address with its ZIP code, it checks for matching leads or customers. The card says which one matched. If it finds one, a Duplicate contact found card appears with up to two matches — each with a Use This button that jumps straight to that existing lead or customer instead of creating a new record. If there are more matches than that, a View all matches button shows the rest.
To move on to Pricing, you need a first name or email, a scope of work, and the full address (street, city, state and ZIP code), unless you picked a saved home in the Home picker. When you click Next: Pricing, Pulse automatically saves the lead first (as long as you've entered a name or email) and shows a Lead saved toast (Lead updated when you reopen an existing lead). If the save doesn't go through for some reason, you still move on to Pricing — pricing will save it again from there. Moving from Profile to any other step in the left rail (or the step buttons on mobile) saves the lead the same way.
Tag a lead while quoting
The Tags card on Profile lists your lead tags (set up under Settings → Skills & Tags → Lead Tags), such as Hot Lead or Follow-up Needed. Click Select tags and check the ones that apply. They're saved with the lead when you save it, show on the lead's details, and come back checked when you reopen the quote. Uncheck a tag and save to remove it from the lead. The card only appears when your company has at least one active lead tag.
Step 2 — Pricing
This step covers property details and the actual price:
- Property Details — Square footage, bedrooms, bathrooms, and stories.
- Pricing Questions — Any extra questions your company has set up before pricing.
- Room Master — Set quantities for each room type used to calculate price. It lists every room turned on for any scope you picked, not just the first one.
- Pricing cards — One card per scope of work you selected, with frequency, rooms, add-ons, and rate adjustments.
Pricing calculates as soon as you pick a scope, even before the ZIP code is entered or when it is outside your Service Zones. When the ZIP is outside your Service Zones, choose the home's zone in your home zone question on the Booking step, and the quote saves and books with that zone. Until you do, a banner on the Pricing step reminds you, with an Edit on Profile button if you need to change the ZIP. To serve the ZIP from now on, add it to a zone under Settings > Team & Operations > Service Zones. If your company doesn't ask the home zone on Booking, saving or booking needs a ZIP inside one of your Service Zones. A saved home picked in the Home picker keeps the zone it already has, so its ZIP isn't checked and it saves and books as it is.
If you're quoting more than one scope at once, changing the room count for one scope only affects that scope's price — it won't change pricing for the others. Removing a scope from the quote leaves the room counts on the other scopes as they were. If you lower a room to 0 in Room Master, it stays at 0 when you change bedroom or bathroom counts. The exception is Primary Bedroom, Bedroom, Primary Bathroom, Bathroom, Half Bathroom and Stairs: changing bedrooms, full baths, half baths or stories resets them to match the answers.
Why is a room missing from Room Master?
A room shows in Room Master only when it is turned on for at least one of the scopes on the quote, under Settings → Quoting & Scopes → Scopes of Work → Rooms card. Rooms marked Default on a scope's Rooms card start with a quantity. Primary Bedroom, Bedroom, Primary Bathroom, Bathroom, Half Bathroom and Stairs also start with a quantity, taken from the bedroom, full bath, half bath and stories answers, even when they aren't defaults. Every other room is listed under Add Room. A room you turn on there shows on a quote you already have open once you refresh the page. Changing bedrooms, full baths, half baths or stories resets only the rooms those answers drive (Primary Bedroom, Bedroom, Primary Bathroom, Bathroom, Half Bathroom and Stairs) to match the answers; every other room you added or changed keeps its count. A default room, a room you added, or a room an answer lowers to 0 (for example Bathroom when you change full baths from 2 to 1) stays in Room Master at 0 instead of disappearing.
Click Save & Continue to save the quote and move to Booking. This button only advances if the save succeeds, so you can trust that Booking always reflects a saved quote. When you haven't changed anything since you opened or last saved the quote, the button reads Continue and moves to Booking without saving again, so reopening a quote and continuing doesn't add another copy to the lead. It stays greyed out while a question your company marked Required on this step is blank. Hover the button to see which one.
On mobile, a sticky bar at the top of this step shows the first job price, the recurring price for your selected frequency, and total estimated hours, so you don't have to scroll down to the summary panel to see the price.
How does adding a fee like First Time In change the estimated time?
The estimated hours in the summary panel show the exact hours: the scope's base time plus the time of every add-on and rate adjustment you select, with no rounding to the quarter hour (for example 3h 51m). The mobile sticky bar shows the same hours to one decimal place (3.9h). Each scope shows its First Job hours and its recurring hours separately when they differ, so a first-visit-only adjustment such as First Time In lengthens the first job without changing the recurring visits.
How is the schedule slot length worked out from the estimate hours?
The Scheduling step divides the exact estimated hours by the scope's planned team size, to the hundredth of an hour. For example, 2h 21m for a 2-technician team is a 1.18-hour slot, about 71 minutes. Saving the quote doesn't change the hours stored on it.
Step 3 — Booking
This step shows any extra questions your company has configured to ask after pricing (labeled Additional details in the left rail). If your company hasn't set any up, it shows a note that there's nothing to fill in here.
If one of those questions is about billing terms, Pulse pre-selects your branch's default payment method. When a card-based term is selected, an Add Card button appears so you can capture the customer's card on file before booking; it changes to Card Added once you do. For a lead, the card is saved to the new customer when you book the quote with Save Quote & Book; Save Quote alone keeps it on the screen only. Closing the estimate before booking asks Discard unsaved changes?, and discarding drops the card.
Click Next: Scheduling to continue once contact info, scope, and pricing are complete.
Step 4 — Scheduling
Pick a time for the first job. This step gives you four tabs — Master Schedule, Schedule Timeline, Availability, and RPP — plus a Manual Schedule panel for setting an exact date, time, and team yourself.
Which tab opens first depends on the frequency you chose in Pricing: recurring weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly work starts on Master Schedule, while one-time and tri-weekly work starts on Schedule Timeline. All four tabs stay available either way.
Scheduling stays locked until a scope you picked has a frequency selected, and until the address has a ZIP code in your service area or a Home Zone answer on the Booking step. Hover the locked step to see what's still needed. A scope with no frequencies set up is named in that list.
📖 Scheduling the First Job covers all four tabs in detail — what each one is for, how slot lengths are calculated, and what gets created when you book.
If your company has turned on the By Location map, a panel next to the scheduling tools shows the prospect's address alongside nearby scheduled jobs, so you can pick a date and team that clusters the new job near existing routes. If Pulse can't map the service address, this panel shows a "Couldn't locate this address" message instead — check the address back in the Profile step and return to Scheduling.
The By Location map may need to be turned on for your company. Ask your administrator to enable it in Settings if you don't see it.
Saving and Sending
The buttons at the bottom of the page change depending on which step you're on:
| Step | Buttons | What They Do |
|---|---|---|
| Profile | Save Lead Only | Saves the contact, address and the scopes of work you picked, and takes you to Sales Pipeline. When you reopen the lead, those scopes are still selected. Use this when you just want to log the lead for now. It needs a first name or email, but not an address or a scope. For an existing customer, it saves the quote and opens the customer's Quotes & Agreements tab instead. Stays disabled until required Before questions are answered. Hover it to see what's missing. |
| Profile | Next: Pricing | Saves the lead and moves to Pricing. Stays disabled until a first name or email, a scope of work and the full address are filled in (unless you picked a saved home) and required Before questions are answered. Hover it to see what's missing. |
| Pricing | Save & Send Quote | Saves any changes to the quote, then opens a dialog to send it by email and/or text message. A quote you haven't changed since you opened or last saved it isn't saved again, unless its prices have changed since it was saved. |
| Pricing | Save & Continue | Saves the quote and moves to Booking. Reads Continue and doesn't save again when nothing changed since you opened or last saved the quote. Greyed out until the required Pricing questions, or a required Before question on the Profile step, are answered. |
| Booking | Next: Scheduling | Moves to Scheduling (no save — Pricing already saved the quote). |
| Scheduling | Save Quote | Saves the quote without booking a job. A quote you haven't changed since you opened or last saved it isn't saved again; Pulse says No changes to save. |
| Scheduling | Save Quote & Book | Books the first job at the selected time and saves the quote. |
Saving a quote now keeps you on the estimate page instead of sending you back to Sales Pipeline, so you can keep working or send the quote right away. A Quote Saved confirmation appears with a View Lead link if you do want to leave, or a View Customer link when you are quoting an existing customer. If something on the estimate is still unsaved, such as a card added for a lead, those links ask Discard unsaved changes? first, the same as the X. Save Lead Only is the exception. It's meant as a quick "log this and come back later" action, so it still takes you to Sales Pipeline, or to the customer's Quotes & Agreements tab when you are quoting an existing customer.
Sending a Quote by Email or Text
Click Save & Send Quote on the Pricing step. You need at least an email address or a phone number on file — Pulse no longer requires both. If any service on the quote has more than one priced frequency, you'll first choose which ones to include in the message; otherwise the message opens straight away. Both the email and the text message list every frequency you chose with its prices, the same as sending from the lead. Then a Send Quote panel opens where you can pick email, text, or both, edit the message, and confirm the recipient. After sending, Pulse confirms whether the quote went out on every channel you chose. The Quote Sent confirmation stays on screen until you close it. A text message can be up to 1,600 characters, including the price list; if it is longer, Send Quote stays greyed out until you shorten the text or uncheck SMS to send by email only.
Why didn't sending add another quote to the lead? Each time you save changed pricing, Pulse keeps it as a new dated group on the lead, so earlier versions stay on the lead. Save & Send Quote saves first when you changed something since you opened the quote or last saved it, or when the quote's prices are no longer what was saved (for example, your rates changed since then). Otherwise it sends the version that is already saved, and nothing new is added to the lead. Save Quote on the Scheduling step works the same way.
Booking Without Full Contact Info
You can book a job with Save Quote & Book even before you've captured the customer's email or phone number — Pulse only requires a valid address, ZIP code, completed pricing, answers to your company's required questions, and a picked slot (a suggestion, or a date, time, and team). A Send Booking Confirmation dialog opens right after booking so you can send the confirmation and fill in any missing contact details at that point. The dialog opens with Email checked and SMS unchecked; tick SMS only if the customer agreed to receive texts. Skip, Cancel or closing the dialog opens the new customer record, the same as View Customer, so the booked quote can't be booked a second time from the estimate.
Can I text the booking confirmation, when MaidCentral V2 only emails it?
Yes. The booking confirmation starts on Email, as in MaidCentral V2, but Pulse also lets you tick SMS to text it. Only do that when the customer agreed to receive texts. In MaidCentral V2 the booking confirmation can only be emailed. (Pulse reference D-83)
Why can't I continue or book? A required question must be answered
Next: Pricing and Save Lead Only stay disabled while a required question in Before Questions on the Profile step is blank; hover either one to see which question. Save & Continue and the Booking step stay locked while a required Before or Pricing question is blank. Save Quote & Book is rejected while any required question is unanswered, and the error names it. Save Quote & Book also stays greyed out on the Scheduling step until you pick a slot (a suggestion, or a date, time, and team); hover it to see what's missing. This covers every scope you selected, and each selected scope's questions show on the Pricing and Booking steps. A number question answered with 0 shows 0 and counts as answered.
To save a quote while a required Pricing question is still blank, use Save & Send Quote, so you can come back and finish it later. Save Quote on the Scheduling step also still saves when a required question only blocks booking.
When your company marks square footage, bedrooms, bathrooms or stories Required, every save (Save & Continue, Save & Send Quote, Save Quote and Save Quote & Book) waits until that Property Details field is filled, and the message names the field. A blank one would price the quote with no footage or rooms.
Does leaving the Profile step save the lead, as in MaidCentral V2?
Yes, and more often than in V2. Moving off Profile to any other step saves the lead when it has a name or email, whether you use Next: Pricing, the left rail or the step buttons on mobile. This save, like Save Lead Only, keeps the contact, address and the scopes of work you picked, so those scopes are still selected when you reopen the lead. In MaidCentral V2, only Next, Save Lead and Save Quote save. Clicking another step there doesn't save, and an unsaved address disappears from the screen. In Pulse, closing the estimate with unsaved changes asks before discarding them. (Pulse reference D-18)
Tips and Best Practices
- Use Edit Quote from Sales Pipeline when you just need to revisit pricing — it jumps straight to the Pricing step. Book Service jumps to the Booking step.
- If a lead already exists, use the duplicate-contact match instead of creating a second record — it keeps your customer and lead lists clean.
- Set bedrooms, bathrooms and stories before you fine-tune room counts. Changing those answers resets the bedroom, bathroom and stairs rooms, even one you lowered to 0. Every other room keeps the count you set.
- A phone number alone is enough to send a quote or book a job — you don't need to chase down an email address first.
Troubleshooting
| What you see | Solution |
|---|---|
| Pricing looks blank, or a scope shows No frequency options available | Pick a scope of work. Prices and frequencies load for each selected scope; a missing or out-of-zone ZIP code no longer hides them. To save or book with a ZIP outside your Service Zones, choose the home zone on the Booking step if your company asks it there; otherwise the ZIP must be inside one of your Service Zones. If a scope still shows No frequency options available, open Settings > Quoting & Scopes > Scopes of Work, open that scope's frequencies, and check that the frequencies you quote have the Internal toggle on. |
| "Duplicate contact found" | Someone with this email, phone or address already exists as a lead or customer. Click Use This to open their record instead of creating a duplicate. |
| Save & Send Quote won't send | The lead needs at least an email address or a phone number. Add one on the Profile step. |
| Send Quote is greyed out and says the text is over the 1,600-character limit | A text message can be up to 1,600 characters, and the quote's price list counts toward it, so choosing many frequencies or itemized add-ons can push it over. Shorten the text on the SMS tab, uncheck some frequencies with Back to scopes, or uncheck SMS to send the quote by email only. |
| A quote email didn't reach a lead | Email delivery can fail for several reasons. See SendGrid common issues and FAQs for the resolutions |
| I want to save a sent quote as a PDF | A quote is sent as an email, so use your email provider's options for downloading or printing an email |
| Save Quote & Book is blocked | If the button is greyed out, no slot is picked yet. Pick a suggestion, or fill in date, time, and team; hover the button to see what's missing. If you can click it and get an error, the message names what's missing: the address, a valid ZIP code, pricing that is still calculating, or an unanswered required question. |
| I don't see a Save Quote button on Profile | This was removed — a quote needs a frequency, which is only chosen on the Pricing step. Use Next: Pricing instead. |
| Save & Continue is greyed out | Hover it. The tooltip names what's missing: a service, a frequency for each service, a required Property Details field, a required Pricing question, or a required Before question on the Profile step. |
| An address I typed is gone when I reopen the lead | On a lead, the address is saved when you move from Profile to another step (once a name or email is entered), or when you click Save Lead Only or Save Quote. For an existing customer, moving between steps doesn't save it; use Save Lead Only or Save Quote. If you close the estimate with the X before that, Pulse asks Discard unsaved changes? first. Choose Stay on page, then save. |
| Discard unsaved changes? appears when I close the estimate | You changed something the quote hasn't saved yet. For a lead, a card added with Add Card counts as an unsaved change until the quote is booked with Save Quote & Book; the saves and Continue below don't clear the prompt for the card. The prompt also appears when you click View Lead on the Quote Saved or Quote Sent message. Moving to another step saves only the lead's contact details and address, so the prompt still appears until the quote is saved (Save & Continue or Save & Send Quote on Pricing, Save Quote or Save Quote & Book on Scheduling). If the quote still matches what was saved, the Pricing button reads Continue; clicking it, or Save & Send Quote, also clears the prompt. Choose Stay on page and save the quote one of those ways, or choose Discard Changes to leave: the lead's saved contact details and address stay, and other unsaved answers are lost. |
| Quote won't save: "Property details required" | Fill in the Property Details fields the message names on the Pricing step, then save again. |
| The Pricing, Booking or Scheduling step is locked | Hover the locked step to see what's still needed (on a phone, the list shows under the step buttons), such as a scope of work, an address field, a frequency, or a ZIP code in your service area. If it says a service has no frequencies set up, open Settings > Quoting & Scopes > Scopes of Work and add frequencies to that scope, or pick another scope. |
