Payment Processing Setup
MaidCentral Pulse processes credit card payments through Paystri. This guide shows administrators how to connect Paystri, test the connection, and import existing credentials from MaidCentral V2 with one click.
Who Can Access This
| Role | Access Level |

| Super Administrator | Full access — connect, test, and update processor credentials |
| Administrator | Full access — connect, test, and update processor credentials |
| Office Manager | No access |
| Technician | No access |
Office Managers do not manage these admin payment settings. They charge customer cards through the Invoicing pages instead. See Payments and Credits.
Overview
Payment processing is a Core capability in MaidCentral Pulse. It is on by default for every company. You only need to enter your Paystri credentials once for each branch. After that, your whole team can save cards and charge them throughout the app.
Once Paystri is configured, saved cards work in three places:
- The customer's Billing & Payments tab, where your team saves and charges cards
- The invoicing charge flows, where you collect payment on invoices
- The customer portal, where customers pay their own invoices online
Surcharges are calculated automatically on card charges where configured. You never need to add a surcharge by hand.
1. Open the Payment Integration Settings
- Go to Settings.
- Open Integrations.
- Select the Payment category.
- Find the Paystri card.
The Paystri card is your home base for payment processing. It shows whether your company is connected and opens the credential form.
If the Paystri card does not appear, payment processing may be turned off for your account. An administrator may need to enable it before you can continue.
2. Enter Your Paystri Credentials
- Click the Paystri card to open the credential form.
- Enter the credentials exactly as Paystri provided them to your company.
- Double-check each value for typos and extra spaces before you move on.
Your credentials come from Paystri when your merchant account is approved. If you cannot find them, contact your Paystri representative. Never guess at credential values — a small typo will cause every charge to fail.
Which branch am I setting up?
Paystri credentials belong to one branch. The top of the Paystri form shows the branch they apply to, as Branch: followed by the branch name and its Branch ID. You can also find your Branch ID under Company Information in your company settings.
If you can work in more than one branch, the form also shows a reminder that these credentials apply only to the current branch. Check the branch name before you save. To set up Paystri for another location, switch to that branch and repeat these steps there.
3. Test the Connection
- Click Test Connection.
- Wait a moment while Pulse contacts Paystri.
- A success message confirms your credentials are valid and the connection works.
If the test fails, recheck each credential and try again. A failed test almost always means a typo or an inactive merchant account. Do not start charging cards until the test passes.
4. Import Credentials from V2 (Optional)
If your company processed payments in MaidCentral V2, you can skip the retyping. Pulse shows an Import from V2 banner when it finds existing credentials to migrate.
- Look for the Import from V2 banner on the Paystri configuration screen.
- Click the import action on the banner. This is a one-click migration of your existing credentials.
- The banner shows Importing... while it copies your settings over.
- When the import finishes, click Test Connection to confirm everything works.
The import pulls the same credentials your V2 account already uses. Your customers' saved cards continue to work without any action on their part.
5. Confirm Everything Works
After a successful connection test, run a quick end-to-end check:
- Open any customer and go to their Billing & Payments tab.
- Add a card or confirm an existing saved card appears.
- Charge a small real invoice through your normal invoicing flow.
If the card saves and the charge succeeds, your setup is complete. Every payment surface in Pulse now uses the same Paystri connection.
Tips and Best Practices
- Import instead of retyping. If the Import from V2 banner appears, use it. One click beats copying credentials by hand and avoids typos.
- Always run Test Connection after any change. A passing test today does not cover a credential you edit tomorrow. Test after every edit.
- Set up before you save cards. Your team cannot save or charge cards until Paystri is connected. Finish setup before onboarding customers.
- Let surcharges work automatically. Where surcharges are configured, Pulse calculates them on every card charge. Do not add surcharge line items manually.
- Limit who holds admin access. Processor credentials control real money movement. Keep this page limited to administrators who truly need it.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
| The Paystri card does not appear under Integrations | Payment processing may be turned off for your account. An administrator may need to enable it. |
| Test Connection fails | Recheck every credential for typos and extra spaces, then test again. If it still fails, confirm your merchant account is active with Paystri. |
| The Import from V2 banner does not appear | The banner only shows when Pulse finds existing V2 credentials to migrate. Enter your credentials manually instead. |
| The banner stays on "Importing..." for a long time | Refresh the page and check whether the credential form filled in. If not, run the import again or enter credentials manually. |
| Saved cards do not appear in invoicing after setup | Run Test Connection to confirm the connection still passes. Then refresh the page and check the customer's Billing & Payments tab. |
| A charge went through without an expected surcharge | Surcharges apply automatically only where configured. Confirm your surcharge configuration with your Paystri representative. |
